There's no wrong way to sell wireless headphones. But this is the right way.

Imagine sitting in the boardroom of Dr. Dre’s Beats empire, spitballing some promo ideas for new wireless headphones. You might go very literal when “I’ve Got No Strings” from the Disney classic Pinocchio comes to mind.

In the pitch session, you expect to get a “Nah, but I like where your head’s at” but the boss loves it. Suddenly you’re populating a Pinocchio ad with celebrities and Steve Buscemi’s agent is on the line. In my estimation, that’s how Dre’s new Beats ad came to fruition.

The ad features Nicki Minaj, DJ Khaled, Karlie Kloss, Rebel Wilson, Travis Scott and a host of other famous faces who lip sync to the unvarnished Disney audio, until Pharrell comes in with a live brass band—as he does. Would you expect anything less? From Buscemi to Amber Rose, try to count the stars. We lost track at Michael Phelps.
