Jon Anderson: "It's going to be a musical adventure on so many new levels."

By Jeff Cornell

Great news for Yes fans! It’s official, Jon Anderson will reunite with Trevor Rabin and Rick Wakeman for a Fall tour. Anderson, Rabin and Wakeman has been in the works for years and die-hard fans will finally get to see the band starting in October.

The former Yes members will perform together for the first time since 1990 when they take the stage in Orlando, Florida on October 4. The group will play a total of 29 shows before wrapping in San Francisco on November 25. See all their tour dates here.

“To be able to sing and perform with Rick and Trevor at this time in my life is a treasure beyond words,” Anderson said. “I’m so excited to create new music and revisit some of the classic work we created many years ago, it’s going to be a musical adventure on so many new levels.”

Rick Wakeman added, “Trevor and I have wanted to play Yes music together since the Union Tour. And as for so many of us, there is no Yes music without Jon.  The ‘Holy Trinity of Yes’ is for me, very much a dream come true.”

The trio has been recording new music off and on for years; Anderson spoke to CBS Local about it back in 2012. No word on an official release but the band is currently in the studio and is planning a worldwide tour in 2017.

Anderson was Yes’s original singer, but left the band in 1980; shortly after, they broke up. Wakeman was the band’s on-and-off keyboardist through the ’70s. In 1983, the band reunited with Anderson and that was when Rabin joined the band. Anderson quit again in 1988 to hook up with Wakeman and two other ex-Yes members to form Anderson Bruford Wakeman and Howe, but soon all four of those musicians rejoined an expanded eight-man lineup of Yes for a tour (which was the only time both Wakeman and Rabin were in the band together).

The current lineup of Yes, featuring longtime members Steve Howe and Alan White and singer Jon Davison (who joined the band in 2012) have announced a summer tour. The Album Series: Drama + Topographic 1 & 4 Tour will kick off in Columbus, Ohio on July 27.
