Metallica has deep roots in California, and the metal icons are heading back to Berkeley tomorrow to celebrate Record Store Day. The band’s performance at Rasputin Music will stream live on the band’s Facebook page, reminding fans to support their local record shops.
“Record Store Day is Saturday and we’re honored to have been chosen as 2016’s official Record Store Day Ambassadors,” said the band in a Facebook post. “Record stores are where our musical education began and was subsequently nurtured and shaped, playing a huge role in who we are as musicians today.”
Drummer Lars Ulrich recently called the Bay Area show a return to form for the band.
“Getting loud, noisy and sweaty at Rasputin’s transports Metallica right back to the core of its Bay Area beginnings,” he said. “We can’t wait to celebrate Record Store Day while shaking up the East Bay old-school style.”
The show can be streamed on Metallica’s Facebook page at 4 p.m. PST (7 p.m. EST) tomorrow.
