The plot of the video is someone similar to events that unfolded in 2009—except the whole gruesome murder part.

We all have fantasies of vengeance towards those who’ve wronged us. However, not many of us are in the position to portray those fantasies in million-dollar music video scripts.

Complex suggests that Rihanna’s new video for “B—h Better Have My Money” is based on real events. The video depicts an accountant who’s pocketing her money, and his bloody comeuppance. This strongly recalls some legal drama Rihanna found herself embroiled in back in 2012—she filed a lawsuit against her accountant, Peter Gournis of Berdon LLP. Gournis, she claimed, cause her to lose $9 million over the course of 2009, a year she ended with only $2 million in the bank. Gournis, apparently, kept 22 percent of all revenue from her Last Girl on Earth, leaving Rihanna with only 6 percent.

The lawsuit dragged on, only settling last year. If this video is any indication, strong feelings remain on Rihanna’s part, even though her net worth is now more like $50 million. With those kinds of funds and this kind of powerful imagination, Peter Gournis would do well to watch his back.
