Following recent incidents with U2 guitarist The Edge and Rae Sremmurd rapper Slim Jimmy taking tumbles from the stage at recent concerts, Grohl was performing with the Foo Fighters in Sweden when he fell into the pit, severely injuring his leg.
The band was performing only the second song of the set when Grohl fell, bringing the show to a halt.
Grohl got on the mic to let the crowd know what was happening, explaining that “I think I just broke my leg again. I think I really broke my leg. So you have my promise, right now, that the Foo Fighters, we’re gonna come back and finish the show. But right now…I’m gonna go to the hospital, I’mma fix my leg, but then I’mma come back, and we’re gonna play for you again. I’m so sorry.”
According to DC 101, Foo Fighters’ drummer Taylor Hawkins allegedly took over vocal duties for at least a portion of the show, with the band performing cover tunes in the tradition of their notorious cover band, Chevy Metal.
According to reports on Reddit, Grohl was eventually rolled back onto the stage wearing a wrap on his leg to finish the concert sitting in a chair. Now that’s rock and roll.
“I may not be able to walk or run but I can still play guitar and scream,” Grohl told the crowd upon his return.
Expect more details and if this situation will affect the Foo Fighters’ upcoming concert itinerary.
