Some thought Kim Kardashian‘s Met Gala look last night (May 4) looked suspiciously similar to Beyoncé‘s Met Gala look from 2012. But, it was actually a different singer that inspired Kim’s barely there look. And it may surprise you.

Kardashian’s nearly naked dress that like so many other things Kim does could break the internet did look similar to Bey’s Givenchy look a few years back, right down to the feather train. But, alas, if you can believe it, it was actually Cher who inspired her very see-through bedazzled, white Roberto Cavalli gown.
Kardashian took to Instagram to post a photo of a young Cher in 1974 wearing a sheer white and nude gown that also ended with feathers.
“Tonight’s inspiration! Cher at the 1st ever Met Gala!” Kim wrote. “I just met her and told her this photo was my inspiration for my dress tonight! She is so beautiful! So happy I met her!”
There’s even a photo to prove Kardashian’s claims that she met Cher and apparently talked to her about their “Armenian journeys.”
So, sorry guys, Kim K isn’t trying to be Beyoncé, she’s just being Cher. And we have to say, we think she did a pretty good job of channeling the “Gypsy, Tramps and Thieves” look by Bob Mackie.
