Last night (March 29) we said goodbye to another season of The Walking Dead, with Team Rick and the longtime residents of Alexandria reaching an understanding that they need each other. And not a moment too soon, as we now know that the Wolves are lurking not too far outside the walls of the town. But it’s going to be a looooong wait until season six kicks off in October.
But if you’re worried about a half-year wait for your next “walker” fix, we’ve got good news. If you haven’t heard already, Walking Dead spinoff Fear the Walking Dead will kick off its first season this summer.
“Morning, Los Angeles, hope you got your flu shot!” an announcer declares at the start of the first trailer for the new series (watch it above). “Reports in five states that a strange virus is going around….”
The show probably won’t have much crossover with The Walking Dead, as the original series takes place on the East Coast and Fear is in L.A. But we think (hope!) we get to see more of Dr. Edwin Jenner (played by Noah Emmerich), who appeared in season 1.
Both series take place in the same world, and are dealing with the same walkers, although in L.A. they may have different names for them (and in L.A., of course, the walkers have their own agents). It’s sort of like how The Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy both took place in the same Marvel Universe, but you haven’t seen much crossover (or, at least not yet).
Fear the Walking Dead debuts on AMC this summer.
