Bob Dylan, Billy Joel & KISS Celebrate Paul McCartney on New Covers Album

By Shannon Carlin

Paul McCartney is getting the royal treatment from his fellow musicians in a new covers compilation that spans the former Beatle’s time with the Fab Four and Wings, along with his solo career.

As Rolling Stone points out, the 34-track album (42 tracks if you get the bonus edition) is filled with well-known songwriters including Bob Dylan covering The Beatles’ “Things We Said Today,” Smokey Robinson singing the McCartney solo track “So Bad,” Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees doing The Beatles’ “When I’m 64,” and Billy Joel, taking on two songs, “Maybe I’m Amazed” and “Live and Let Die.”

The comp also features covers from the likes of Willie Nelson, Alice Cooper, The Who’s Roger Daltrey, B.B. King, Heart, Chrissie Hynde and KISS. This is certainly the kind of rock music Gene Simmons likes.

The record also features The Cure putting their own spin on The Beatles’ “Hello, Goodbye,” with Paul’s son, James.

Check out the tracklist for the covers album, out Nov. 18 in the U.S., below. Find out more about the release here.
