Ray J, the R&B singer now best known for launching Kim Kardashian’s career after their home movie went viral, has been working for the past couple of years to rebuild his presence in music.
After releasing “I Hit It First” last year, a hate letter of sorts to Kim and Kanye, he’s back with its followup, “ATM.”
“ATM” is a decidedly more upbeat track. For one, it features the Versace-loving Atlanta group Migos, who are just about the most fun trio in hip-hop right now.
“We’re big fans of their music and they’ve been exploding on their own path and they’ve just built a crazy fan base,” Ray J told RapUp. “The homies told me to get with ‘em and they was down, so it was just magic.”
“ATM” also has background vocals from Dria, who puts forth this analogy: “Got my legs open like an ATM / Cash in, cash out.”
The song could appear on his not-yet-titled album that’s purportedly being released by Fifth Amendment Entertainment/Knockout Entertainment/Entertainment One.
In between studio sessions for his next full-length, Ray J will also reportedly appear on the next season of VH1’s Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood.
