Beyoncé Debuts ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ Teaser: Listen

By Courtney E. Smith

Beyoncé has been avoiding using words in her overall marketing plan for the Beyoncé brand for the past few years. And so, with no words at all aside from a succinct #50shades, the pop singer unveiled a teaser trailer for the forthcoming Fifty Shades of Grey movie.

Simply an announcement that an announcement is coming, the teaser indicates the world should be on the look out this Thursday (July 24) for the first official film trailer.

Why did Bey garner this particular honor from Hollywood?

It’s not entirely clear, outside of a clear synergistic match up between a large swath of her audience and the audience for the book (females, ages 18-55, all races), but the music in the teaser does appear to be Beyoncé herself doing a little a cappella teaser of her hit single “Crazy In Love.” Watch below.

Beyoncé will stay busy touring while she and the rest of the female population wait for the movie trailer on Thursday. For a quick look at how the On the Run tour is doing, when the show hit Houston the singer chose to mix up her normal opening costume for her hometown by adding a Stetson cowboy hat and a floor-length Atelier Versace coat.

Fifty Shades of Grey, based on the best-selling book of the same name, is due for release next February.
