“I care about you, baby / More than you’ll ever know,” Jhené Aiko croons at the start of her new single, “The Pressure.”
The song, a new one likely off her upcoming album Souled Out, tackles relationship problems, particularly the stress of one.
In “The Pressure,” Aiko is struggling to decide between working on the problems of the relationship and just letting it go, a decision that she’s finding tough to come to. The issue? While she enjoys her lover’s company, maybe it’s not worth her while.
“The way you feel this is not my problem,” she sings. “I don’t want to see you go / But I don’t have time to solve this.”
The conflicting lyrics are set over a minimal beat with occasional piano melodies and subdued guitar.
Aiko’s Souled Out, her first full-length, is due out Aug. 25.
