DJ Hodor of ‘Game of Thrones’ Plots ‘Rave of Thrones’ Australian Tour

By Scott T. Sterling

Already the most popular show in the history of HBO, the influence of medieval science-fantasy epic Game of Thrones has hit the dance floor thanks to Irish actor Kristian Nairn, best known for portraying show character, Hodor.

Nairn has been a resident DJ at Belfast’s club Kremlin for more than 10 years, so he’s hardly jumping on the celebrity DJ bandwagon. He eschews the commercial end of EDM to spin deep house tracks, which can be heard in his DJ mix below (via Soundcloud).

He’s also not afraid to capitalize on the heightened profile that comes with being associated with Game of Thrones, plotting a six-city Australian DJ jaunt cheekily coined in honor of the show.

“Hodor’s dedication to carrying Bran on his back has become legend but what is less well known is how much he enjoys carrying the party vibes long into the night,” states the tour press release. “An established DJ in his homeland, Hodor of House Stark will be showcasing some of the deepest house from all seven kingdoms at his very own Rave Of Thrones.”

The tour kicks off in Sydney on Aug. 28, winding across the country before winding up in Adelaide on Sept. 7.

Attendees are encouraged to revel in all things GoT, even going so far as to insist that dressing up in show-inspired costumes is mandatory.

“Unlike the Red Wedding, these soirees will be remembered for seasons to come for all the right reasons,” the press release continues. “For one night only in every capital across this land venues will be transformed into the finest halls of Westeros, wherein patrons will be (enforced by the hand of the king) dressed to the occasion in a manner that would befit Queen Cersi herself.”

Hodor has an open door policy for the Australian dates, insisting that pretty much everyone ever featured on GoT will be welcome:

“All ravens will shortly be sent far and wide calling on Houses Baratheon, Balton, Florent, Lannister, Martel, Redwyne, Stark, Umber, Targeryan and Tully. Further north to those posted on the wall and beyond including Giants, Whitewalkers and even Direwolves. Across the seas to the people of Bravoos, Pentos, Qarth and even the nomadic Dothraki. Let’s not forget Daenerys Stormborn of the House Targaryen, the First of Her Name, the Unburnt, Queen of Meereen, Queen of the Andals and the Rhoynar and the First Men, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Breaker of Chains, and Mother of Dragons.”

The dates will also feature a GoT visual show to accompany Nairn’s mix, courtesy of Australian artist EGO.
