An upcoming Aaliyah biopic has found its leading lady.
The 17-year-old Coleman, who goes by her first name only in show business, is a Disney Channel star whose credits include the TV series Shake It Up. She’s also had a decent music career, hitting the top 40 in the U.S. with the single “Replay.”
She was also recently featured on the 16th season of Dancing with the Stars, finishing second to Kellie Pickler.
The film, currently tentatively titled Aaliyah: Princess of R&B, is based off the book Aaliyah: More Than a Woman by Christopher Farley. Aaliyah died Aug. 25, 2001, in a plane crash.
The Aaliyah film isn’t the first biopic Lifetime has ordered recently about an R&B singer. The network is also reportedly creating a Whitney Houston flick.
