Justin Bieber & Michael Jackson Collaboration Coming, Promises L.A. Reid

By Shannon Carlin

Last summer, Justin Bieber leaked a version of Michael Jackson’s song “A Slave To The Rhythm,” which featured him trading vocals with the King of Pop. The song would eventually end up on MJ’s recently released posthumous album, XSCAPE, sans Bieber. But according to L.A. Reid their might be another Bieber/Jackson collaboration in the works.

In an interview with Access Hollywood (via Billboard), Reid said he felt protective of Bieber, who he signed to Island Records in 2009, and didn’t feel “Slave to the Rhythm” was a good fit.

“‘Slave 2 The Rhythm’ didn’t include him per my direction … If it hadn’t been leaked, it would have been featured but it sort of took the wrong turn,” But you know what? We’re gonna revisit that.”

He then added, “We’re going to revisit it and do something really special with Justin Bieber and Michael.”

When prodded further whether the Bieber/Jackson collabo would be on an upcoming MJ album, Reid said, “I’m pretty sure.”  So it seems we can expect another posthumous record from Michael Jackson at some point.

Bieber has never hid his love for the King of Pop, tweeting last year that Jackson was “the greatest of all time.” He also tweeted a message that showed similar black and white photos of Jackson and Bieber on stage performing with the message “He set the bar.”

After being arrested in Miami last year for charges that included resisting arrest without violence, a DUI and driving with an expired drivers licenseBieber also compared himself to Jackson, by posting an Instagram photo that has him sitting on a SUV waving to fans upon his release from jail, alongside a photo of his idol, Michael Jackson. The photo of MJ, also on the top of a car, is from him exiting a Santa Maria, Calif., courthouse after he pled not guilty to child-molestation charges in 2004.

Bieber is currently awaiting trial for driving under the influence in Miami. The trial has currently been delayed until July after his lawyers reportedly asked for more time to examine evidence and discuss whether to accept a possible plea deal. Bieber is also still awaiting word whether he’ll be charged with vandalism following a January incident in Calabasas, where he allegedly egged his neighbor’s home.

And as of this week, he’s also being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department for attempted robbery after a woman accused him of stealing her cellphone.
