Three years after releasing their last album, 2011’s The Hunter, Mastodon is back with a brand new album called Once More ‘Round the Sun.

Fans have already gotten a taste of the album’s first single, “High Road,” and the band told Paste that the record, out June 24, is “60-or-so minutes of pure, authentic Mastodon.”

“We’re all over the world as far as themes go,” singer/bassist Troy Sanders said. “But there are a few sprinkles of epic goodness.”

The band also mentioned that this new one takes up where the last one left off. Sort of.

“A lot of people ask us if it kicks off where The Hunter left off,” Sanders told Paste. “And to a large degree, I suppose yes. We recorded it and took it on the road with us, and then we headed back to our rehearsal space and started working out ideas. I’ve had a lot of time to ingest this record, and it’s solid. It’s a large slab of granite. I’m once again completely proud of these guys.”

Mastodon is also gearing up for their latest tour, which kicks off today (April 29) in Portland, OR. The band will also perform at festivals like Bonnaroo and Rock on the Range in Columbus, Ohio.
