Last week the E Street Band was getting inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame. This week, the world gets to hear a new Bruce Springsteen song from the forthcoming album American Beauty EP (why yes, that is also the name of a seminal Grateful Dead album) to be released on Record Store Day, April 19.

“Hurry Up Sundown”, which you can hear on NPR, is one of four previously unreleased Springsteen songs from the High Hopes sessions. Also to be featured on the EP are tracks titled “Mary Mary”, “Her Blue Eyes” and the eponymous title track.

“Hurry Up Sundown” is a straightforward rocker with a strong guitar attack and Springsteen’s booming, gritty baritone, the Boss singing about looking toward “the end of another working day” and what comes after. The song seems destined for placement on the band’s vast catalog of songs played during live shows.

Springsteen and the E Street Band are currently on tour, with a show in Charlotte, N.C., on tap for Record Store Day.

Fans can also catch him on HBOGo, where his High Hopes documentary is available to stream.

American Beauty is just one of a plethora of releases for Record Store Day, which will take place this Saturday, April 19. Other major releases include music from the Allman Brothers Band, Jake Bugg, Eric Church and Skrillex.
