Jerrod Niemann Raises His Glass on ‘High Noon’ and Hopes You Will, Too

By Annie Reuter

Jerrod Niemann did things differently on his third album, High Noon. For one, he recorded it in his home studio, aptly called the Red Room.

“I Elvis-ed it out,” NiemannĀ told “Red-check carpet, red walls, red ceilings. I call it the Red Room, but I know 50 Shades of Grey supposedly has some pretty interesting things in the Red Room. I will say that mine’s much more boring than that.”

Niemann said he plans to record in his Red Room from now on, rather than meet in the studio at the beginning of every album cycle.

“You forget about the weather, you forget about everything around you, and you’re just in this room to be creative. I’ll write a song and record a version of it there at my house, and I’ll take those tracks to the studio and let [producer] Jimmie [Lee Sloas] fix all my mistakes.”

Niemann’s third Sony Music Nashville release, High Noon, is peppered with plenty of drinking songs, something Niemann is known for, and he wouldn’t have it any other way.

“I came from the bar-band days where you learn to be a house band,” he said. “It’s like your education in being an entertainer. You stick to what you know. Since I’ve been singing to drunks since I could play guitar, it is unfortunately very natural.”

And he wanted the feel of the album to remain positive and fun. “There is plenty of bad news, all you’ve got to do is turn on the TV,” he explained. “So I think when you turn on the radio that’s when you should forget the bad news and hear the good news.”

“I always try to put an album together that’s hopefully more fun than sad and boring.”

Jerrod Niemann’s High Noon is out now. This July, heads heads out on the road with Keith Urban and Brett Eldredge on Urban’sĀ Raise ‘Em Up Tour.
