Over the weekend, Aerosmith’s Joe Perry tweeted, “It’s official- we just talked, AEROSMITH/SLASH USA tour confirmed!! Tickets on sale next few wks Soon as dates confirmed.LET ROCK RULE !”
Slash tweeted “Great news! We’ll be touring the US with @Aerosmith this summer! Stay tuned for dates. Its going to be a killer tour!”
Aerosmith and Slash have a long history together: Slash’s former band, Guns N Roses, opened for Aerosmith on a U.S. tour in the summer of 1988; it was on that tour that the bands played New Jersey’s Giants Stadium, where part of the “Paradise City” video was filmed. In 1992, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry joined Guns N Roses onstage at a televised concert in Paris for “Mama Kin,” a song that Guns covered on their debut EP, Live Like A Suicide. More recently, Slash joined Steven Tyler onstage for a private concert in New York City.
Slash has long cited Aerosmith as a major influence, telling Guitar World that Aerosmith’s 1976 Rocks was the album that inspired him to pick up a guitar, and therefore changed his life.
