Coldplay’s Chris Martin Joins ‘The Voice’

By Shannon Carlin

Don’t worry Voice contestants, Chris Martin is going to try and fix you.

The Coldplay frontman is officially joining The Voice as the resident advisor to all four of the coaches’ teams.

Martin’s role, which was announced via Snapchat, is new to the show, thanks to a change in how the second phase of the Battles Round is conducted.

Now instead of performing different songs during Battles: Round Two, the contestants will perform the same song. The neutral Martin will advise each team’s performers, helping them with their vocal techniques, stage presence and tailoring songs to fit their personal style and strengths.

Martin will appear on the show starting March 31 and make additional appearances on April and 7.

Martin is just one of many stars being added to the show this season. During the first Battles Round, which began this week, each coach was teamed up with a celeb advisor: Adam Levine with Aloe BlaccBlake Shelton with The Band PerryShakira with Miranda Lambert and Usher with Jill Scott.

In another change this season, The Voice playoffs–starting April 21–will be taped rather than broadcast live and feature only 12 finalists — three on each coach’s team. The finale will take place May 20.
