Nike Drops Kanye West’s Red Octobers, Price Sky-Rockets Into the Millions
By Shannon Carlin
Kanye West cut his ties with Nike last year, announcing he’d be teaming up with Adidas for a new line of footwear and activewear. So it was a bit of a surprise when Nike just went and released their long rumored follow-up to the Air Yeezy, the red Air Yeezy 2 sneakers, better known as the Red Octobers.
The limited edition sneaker is now going for $16.4 million via a UK seller. For fans who can’t afford that, they can just buy it now through a US seller who’s listing the one of a kind show for a cool 10 thousand. How high will people be willing to pay for Kanye’s last project with Nike? We’ll have to wait and see. But know that Nike was selling the sneaker for just over $300.
Of course, we’d love to know how Kanye feels about this. But since he swore that he would stop ranting in 2014, he might choose to stay radio silent. This is Kanye we’re talking about though after all.
While making stops at every radio station in the country to talk about Yeezus last year, Kanye also spoke out about his passion for fashion, letting everyone know his plans for fashion world domination, announcing, “I want to be the first black person to go and design for Louis Vuitton consistently” and that he wanted to be the “Obama of fashion.”
Kanye kicks off the second leg of his Yeezus tour on Feb. 13 in University Park, PA.
