Perhaps trying to one up Kanye & Kim’s topless wild hog riding in the video for “Bound 2,” Katy Perry and John Mayer jump on a mechanical bull in the video for “Who You Love to see how long they can hang on.

In the clip for their duet off Mayer’s most recent album, Paradise Valley, which premiered today (Dec. 17) on Good Morning America, couples of all ages are seen strapped to the back of a bull as they hold on for dear life. We’ll assume this is some kind of couple’s therapy.

“We set the casting call up for real couples. It’s just so authentic – they were having a great time,” Mayer told People. “There’s nothing scripted in that video except putting the bull in the middle of the desert.”

Perry added, “Relationships are kind of like riding a bull – you hold on for dear life. Sometimes you get a little a little buck here and there, but you get back on.”

The scenes of the mechanical bull are shot in slow motion, making it all a little more dramatic and a whole lot more funny when they eventually fall off.

In-between the bull riding, the two get all lovey dovey, looking into each other’s eyes as they sing, “Oh, you can’t make yourself stop dreaming/Who you’re dreaming of.” And it all ends with some confetti cannons because falling in love is like a beautiful July 4th fireworks display, or something like that.

In an interview with New York’s Fresh 102.7 (a  Radio.com station) Mayer explained that the song itself is not about his relationship with Perry.

“The last thing you want to do is sit in a car and listen to us talk about how good we have it,” Mayer explained. “It’s really about two artists, a male and a female artist coming together… sort of giving a voice to this idea that you should take your head out of the equation a little bit when it comes to matters of the heart. I think the world could stand to hear that for three to four minutes.”
