Garth Brooks Announces 2014 World Tour
It’s official: Garth Brooks is going back on tour in 2014.
After cryptic messages via email and on his website, not to mention releasing a new box set and performing last month during a live television special, Brooks announced today (Dec. 9) that a 2014 world tour is on the way. He confirmed the news to Robin Roberts this morning on Good Morning America.
“We’re going on a world tour in 2014,” Brooks said during the program, “it begins.” Roberts jumped with excitement, and the two of leaned in for a big bear hug.
“I can’t believe I just did that,” Brooks told Roberts regarding the announcement, “but you are a doll.”
That was “totally unscripted,” Roberts replied.
Brooks settles back in his chair and explained a bit more, saying, “We’re going to talk with radio the end of this week. We want to tell them and celebrate them because it sure feels good to throw your hat back in the ring.”
Roberts wanted to know, why is he doing it now?
“Our baby’s a senior in high school,” Brooks said. “We’ve talked about it. All my babies are fine with it and Ms. Yearwood is fine with it. So now I get to do…what I love to do is play music. I get to be with the person I love to be with, which is Ms. Yearwood. And my children are off on their own so the guilt of not being there…I’m a phone call dad now. I feel very lucky to have three healthy children, and they’re getting ready to step off into their own paths in the world.”
“There’s nothing better than being a dad,” Brooks said. And the time he took off to be with his kids while they grew up, that “was for me, not for them.”
Aside from two concerts in Las Vegas in January, no tour dates have been announced yet, so stay tuned to Radio.com for updates.
