Dolly Parton Will Drop New Album ‘Blue Smoke’ in 2014
Just days after Dolly Parton extended her Blue Smoke World Tour, she revealed a new album is also in the works. The “Jolene” singer will release Blue Smoke via Sony Masterworks and her own label, Dolly Records, to coincide with her world tour next year.
Blue Smoke will be released in New Zealand and Australia in February 2014 and in the United States and Europe in May.
“We at Masterworks think that Blue Smoke sits with Dolly Parton’s very best recorded work, as global audiences will discover when she begins her world tour in January 2014. We’re very happy to be associated with this great American music artist,” Bogdan Roscic, President of Sony Masterworks said in a release.
Her Blue Smoke World Tour will kick off January 24 in California and make stops throughout the U.S. and in Australia and New Zealand.
“Every time I come to Europe I’m just as excited as I was my very first time, which was many, many years ago. I love that part of the world and I especially love the fans,” Parton said in a press release. “We always have such a good time and I’ve put together a lot of things for this show that I think the fans will love. We had not planned to come back so soon, but we got so much fan mail and such a great reaction that I thought ‘Well, why not. If they’re having a good time and we always do, let’s just do it.’”
Parton’s career has spanned nearly five decades. Twenty-five of her songs have reached No. 1 on the Billboard country charts. She was inducted as a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1999.
