Big thangs are poppin’ for T.I..

After a successful summer where he co-headlined the America’s Most Wanted Tour with Lil Wayne and was a featured player on Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines,” the rapper has announced that he’s moving from Atlantic Records to Columbia Records to form his own imprint label, Grand Hustle/Columbia.

In a statement welcoming T.I. to the label, Rob Stringer, Chairman and CEO of Columbia Records, promised that they “are going to make him an even bigger superstar on a global level.”

The statement cited Pharrell, who also appears on “Blurred Lines,” as “instrumental” in bringing T.I. to the Sony-owned label and say he will executive produce T.I.’s upcoming LP, which the rapper is recording currently.

The album will also feature production from Timbaland and longtime collaborator DJ Toomp.

In an interview with Hartford’s Hot 93.7 (a Radio.com station), T.I. talked about his upcoming full length, set to be titled Trouble Man II: He Who Wears the Crown, a sequel to the Atlanta rapper’s 2012 album Trouble Man: Heavy Is the Head.

“I’m going to try to make sure that it’s as grounded as it was the last time, I just want to make it a little broader,” the rapper explained. “I just want to cast a wide net this time.

“I don’t want to classify a type or a genre,” he clarified when asked if he’d be venturing into pop territory on the album. “I want to broaden the scope of people who would be able to relate to the music. But I do not want to sacrifice or compromise any of the integrity of the music.”
