For her first late night appearance last night (October 1), Lorde used the Late Night With Jimmy Fallon stage to show the world she’s no one hit wonder.
Looking like a ’90s riot girrrl in her babydoll dress, New Zealand singer-songwriter Ella Yelich-O’Connor kept things laid back for her hit “Royals,” off her recently released debut Pure Heroine, employing only a drummer and a keyboardist.
Instead of a flashy stage setup, she kept things modestly lit for the ode to anti-consumerism. She doesn’t want NBC paying her electric bills.
Lorde also stuck around to perform another song, which 4 out of 5 dentists recommend, “White Teeth Teens.” (Watch below.)
Showing off her best Stevie Nicks moves, the teen got a little more riled up for the outsider anthem singing, “We got the glow in our mouths.”
Along with her latest release, Lorde appears on the upcoming soundtrack for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, performing a cover of “Everybody Wants To Rule The World” by Tears for Fears. The soundtrack, out November 19, also features The Weeknd, Of Monsters and Men, Imagine Dragons, The Lumineers, Ellie Goulding, and Patti Smith.
