Taylor Swift will hit the big screen once again. Billboard has confirmed that the singer has been cast as a supporting role in a film adaptation to the 1993 novel The Giver, due to hit theaters in August 2014.

Rumors circulated last week that Swift would appear in the film, after Page Six reported that she took a meeting with one of the film’s actors.

Swift finds herself alongside Meryl Streep, Jeff Bridges, Katie Holmes and Brenton Thwaites in The Giver. Additional cast members include True Blood‘s Alexander Skarsgard, The Odd Life of Timothy Green‘s Odeya Rush and Cameron Monaghan of Shameless, Billboard reports. The movie, which is set to start filming Oct. 7 in Cape Town, South Africa, will be directed by Salt’s Phil Noyce and is due to hit theaters Aug. 15, 2014.

No stranger to acting, Swift had a role in 2010’s Valentine’s Day alongside Taylor Lautner and played the voice of Audrey in 2012’s The Lorax. More recently, she appeared on the finale of last season’s New Girl as well as had her dream role on CSI.

“My dream is to die onĀ CSI. I’ve always wanted to, like, be one of the characters on there that they’re trying to figure out what happened to,” she told CBS News.

She just wrapped up the U.S. leg of her RED Tour. She hits the road the end of November for several dates in New Zealand and Australia.
