Lorde isn’t dropping her debut album Pure Heroine until next week (Sept. 30) but fans can get a sneak preview today. VH1 is streaming the 16-year-old New Zealand native’s much anticipated release Pure Heroine in its entirety.
The 10 tracks on the album embody the minimal sound Lorde is known for. If her debut single “Royals,” which also made her the first woman in 17 years to reach No. 1 on the alternative songs chart, is any indication Pure Heroine will continue to set her apart. Listen below.
In an interview with Radio.com earlier this year, Lorde explained how the success of her breakout single “Royals” is still a surprise.
“It’s beyond my wildest dreams,” Lorde said. “I try not to let it freak me out too much. It’s about all of the opulence in you’ll see in a lot of music videos and stuff, which is fun to look at but is so far from my reality. My friends and I have spent many Saturday nights scraping enough money to get something to eat. It’s all just fantasy. Bullsh**, really. It’s not as much profound as it is simply honest.”
She added, “So much has happened in my life and I really want the album to reflect those changes and experiences.”
