DJ/producer Diplo is having a very busy 2013. His EDM+dancehall outfit, Major Lazer, released its second full-length album, Free the Universe, with the act hitting the road to play a seemingly non-stop litany of music festivals and events, ranging from Coachella to Burning Man.
Now the “Express Yourself” producer has announced the imminent arrival of the Revolution EP on October 8. It will be Diplo’s first solo release since 2012′s Express Yourself EP, which helped kick off the current twerk craze that’s hit critical mass, thanks to Miley Cyrus and her infamous 2013 MTV VMAs performance.
The six-track EP will feature four new songs — “Biggie Bounce,” the title track (above), “Crown” and “Rock Steady” — with a couple of remixes, including the “TWRK” version of “Biggie Bounce.”
“Rock Steady” boasts a pair of high-profile feature stars on the mike, with Vine-happy rapper Riff Raff and hip-hop’s Albanian chef, Action Bronson, trading verses over the Diplo production (hear a quick preview via Diplo’s Instagram account).
Diplo and Major Lazer still have two dates on this year’s Mad Decent Block Party tour (Sept. 14 in L.A. and Sept. 15 in San Diego, CA), with Diplo also set to appear at the U.S. debut of Europe’s TomorrowWorld dance music festival in Atlanta, GA, on Sept. 29.
