After Del Rey’s song leaked yesterday (July 23) many started noting the lyrics, which seem to diss Gaga and her “Born This Way” attitude.
On the simple acoustic track, Del Rey sings, “Stefani, you suck, I know you’re selling twenty million/Wish they could have seen you when we booed you off in Williamsburg.”
Throughout the song Del Rey questions the legitimacy of this woman named Stefani, which, as luck would have it, also happens to be Lady Gaga’s real name.
She snipes, “You’re looking like a man, you’re talking like a baby/How the f*** is your song in a Coke commercial? Crazy/I don’t get it/Your taste once exquisite.”
Del Rey questions the singer’s motives claiming she is trying to steal her persona: “You called me the queen of the downtown scene, babe/ How the f*** would you go switch it up and then replace me?”
And then Del Rey goes for the jugular when she taunts, “Oh, girl, I see you walking ’round in your pearls/ Thinking that you’re number one/You’re so funny, ’cause honey, you’re not.”
Del Rey ends the track by asking, “What happened to Brooklyn, what happened to our scene, baby?/Have we all gone Gaga crazy?”
Del Rey has yet to comment on whether or not the track is actually about Lady Gaga, who from the looks of this photo, used to be pretty chummy with the “Blue Jeans” singer.
Though the track has since been removed from YouTube, those looking to weigh in on the Lana vs. Gaga debate can go here to take a listen.
