Adam Lambert is now officially a Gleek. The star confirmed yesterday (July 10) that he would be joining the cast of Glee next season.
Show creator Ryan Murphy was the first person to reveal the news via his Twitter, letting fans know that the American Idol alum would now be on the show, but chose not to give any other details. Hours later, Lambert retweeted Murphy’s announcement, giving his own short, but sweet response to the new gig.
I'm so excited!! “@MrRPMurphy: I am thrilled to announce that the super talented Adam Lambert is joining the cast of Glee this fall.”

This news comes weeks after rumors started swirling that Lambert was up for one of the judges’ seats on Idol. There is no word yet on whether Lambert will be a series regular leaving room for some to dream that the singer will pull double duty on both Fox shows.
There has also been no information given on whom he will be playing when the show returns for its fifth season this fall, which has already seen its share of cast shakeups including the loss of main characters like Quinn (Dianna Agron), Mercedes (Amber Riley) and Brittany (Heather Morris).
This isn’t Lambert’s first acting job, though. The singer got his starts performing in touring casts of musicals like Wicked and Ten Commandments and last year appeared as himself on an episode of Pretty Little Liars.
The fifth season of Glee premieres Thursday, September 19 on Fox.
