In a shocking scuffle caught on tape, Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis was involved in a violent confrontation with a bodyguard (possibly working for the Rolling Stones) who refused the singer entrance into the Four Seasons Hotel in Philadelphia.
In the video, Kiedis and an unidentified woman are seen approaching the hotel. A black-suited security guard tries to deny the couple entrance into the hotel, with Kiedis and the guard suddenly lunging at each other before bystanders quickly intervene to separate the combatants.
As police officers and what appears to be hotel security work to resolve the incident, onlookers can be heard shouting Kiedis’ identity, as well as pointing out that he’s wearing Four Seasons slippers as evidence that he’s a hotel guest.
“The security guards involved in the incident are not employees of Four Seasons, nor were they hired by the Hotel for any reason,” said the Four Seasons Hotel in Philadelphia via an official statement. “We are working with all parties involved to ensure their security and comfort.”
While it had been suggested that the security guard was working for the Rolling Stones, who were staying in the hotel at the same time as Kiedis, a source close to the band as insisted that is not the case. It’s also been intimated that the guard may have been hired by the Stones’ security detail for added protection while the band was in Philadelphia.
So far, Kiedis’ only response in the aftermath of the confrontation was simple: “I love the Rolling Stones.”
