Jessie J recently revealed the follow up to her debut album, Who You Are, is in the works.
J recently spoke with U.K. radio station Capital FM about her collaboration with British grime rapper Dizzee Rascal, who’s featured on her new single “Wild” alongside Big Sean. Jessie J explained that she wanted someone “really British” and “really American” in terms of guests.
“We wrote the song and I actually had a middle eight and I said to Claude Kelly, who’s the executive producer on this album, ‘I feel like this should have a rapper on it’ and I was like ‘how about two?’” she said.
The Emil Nava-directed video for “Wild” was released yesterday (May 28) and features both Dizzee and Sean.
Jessie J revealed that she will return Dizzee Rascal’s favor by guesting on his forthcoming studio release. “It’s nice to always work with people that mutually there’s a respect for,” she added.
While Jessie J didn’t go into too much detail about her next album, she said she’s been working with Calvin Harris and Dr. Luke. She penned every song on the album with producer Claude Kelly, except the one with Harris, which was written by Ester Dean.
A release date and title is still TBD. The album’s first single, “Wild,” is currently available on iTunes.
Who You Are debuted at No. 11 on the Billboard 200 and featured her hit “Price Tag,” which went to No. 1 in the U.K. and 18 in other countries. In the U.S., the song peaked at No. 23 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and introduced Jessie J – a songwriter behind big hits like Miley Cyrus’ “Party in the USA” – to the American mainstream.
