For the second year in a row, financial ranking website Celebrity Net Worth has tabulated the world’s richest DJs, and for the second year in a row, Dutch trance music legend Tiesto has come out on top.
Citing his nightly DJ fee that reaches a stratospheric $250,000 and a private Gulfstream jet to zip him around the world between gigs, Tiesto’s personal fortune is estimated at $75 million. He’s recently added to his portfolio by inking a global endorsement deal with tech company Acer, starring in a series of advertisements for the brand.
While Tiesto’s new worth might be more than the individual members of Daft Punk (Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo) at $60 million each, combined the French electronic music-makers are at a full $120 million. With their new album Random Access Memories already setting the Spotify record for most streams in a week and on pace to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart, that combined fortune will surely increase.
The rest of the Top 10 is made up of European stalwarts like Paul Oakenfold (No. 4, $52 million), Armin Van Buuren (No. 7, $40 million) and BBC Radio 1 host Pete Tong (No. 10, $32 million). Moby just missed the top 10, coming in at No. 11 with $30 million.
Other notables in the top 30 include Deadmau5 (No. 17, $18 million), Skrillex (No. 19, $16 million), MTV reality star DJ Pauly D (No. 21, $15 million), who the website can’t resist taking a swing at, calling the former Jersey Shore cast member’s ranking “sad but true. As painful as this is to admit, Pauly D is one of the most sought after DJs performing today.”
