Demi Lovato‘s forthcoming album Demi is due out next week (May 14), but she just couldn’t wait to debut her new track, “Really Don’t Care,” and join the race for summer jam of 2013.
After one listen, who can blame her for jumping into the fray? The epic breakup song beaks bad in a way that puts Taylor Swift’s splitsville tunes to shame.
“Really Don’t Care” is a collaboration with fellow X Factor colleague Cher Lloyd. The duo met when Lloyd, who was a finalist on the X Factor in the UK for the show’s 2010 season, performed on American X Factor.
On the new track, Lovato explains how not even a cosmic collision of the stars and moon could change her mind about her breakup with an on-again/off-again lover.
“Now if we meet out in the street I won’t be running scared/I’ll walk right up to you and put one finger in the air,” she brashly sings.
“Hey Demi, you picked the wrong lover/Shoulda picked that one, he’s cuter than the other,” Lloyd raps back at her in typical Queen Brat style.
Lovato’s entire new album is available as a track-by-track stream on her website, including the standout “I Really Don’t Care.”
