Queens rapper Action Bronson makes no apologies for his fondness for the green, so it’s not all that surprising that he celebrated stoner holiday 4/20 this past weekend. How he did it, however, was bold, even by his standards.

During his Coachella performance Saturday afternoon (4/20), Bronson (real name: Arian Asllani) brought with him a white garbage bag full of what appeared to be prescription bottles containing medical marijuana. He started tossing them out to the audience one by one, at which point there was no doubt it was weed – 4-ounce increments, in fact, as confirmed by his since-deleted tweet (below).

Finally, someone who appeared to be with Coachella promoter Goldenvoice came onstage and told Bronson to stop. In rebellion, Bronson threw the whole entire trash bag full of weed bottles into the audience, declaring “Now you mother***ers can go get high!” Astutely, he added: “I’m gonna get in trouble.”

Officer Ben Guitron of the Indio, California, Police Department tells Radio.com that the Indio PD were notified “three to four hours after the incident took place.” Police were informed by Goldenvoice that a performer had thrown “something” into the crowd but that “action had been taken” and no follow-up was needed.

In total, he gave away 50 to 100 of these bottles. A gift of marijuana under 28.6 grams is considered a misdemeanor in the state of California, but clearly Bronson distributed more than that in total so it would be considered a felony. Furthermore, distributing marijuana to minors incurs an additional penalty.

This isn’t the first time the rising rapper has given away weed onstage during his live shows. At a New York show last summer, for example, he tossed out dime bags into the crowd, estimated in total to be roughly half a pound of marijuana, according to the Village Voice. (It was also at that show that Bronson now-infamously tossed two Peter Luger’s steaks – cooked and wrapped – into the crowd.)

Bronson’s other Coachella hi-jinks were tame in comparison: jumping off-stage and walking to the back of the crowd, asking the crowd to sing Happy Birthday to his daughter and more.
