Rock Hall Finale: Supergroup Featuring Rush, Heart, Chuck D, Foo Fighters, Fogerty, Morello & More

How do you wrap up a night that saw Rush, Public Enemy, Heart, Randy Newman, Donna Summer, Quincy Jones and more inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame?

Well, one thing all strains of music have in common is the blues, so it was fitting that a mind-blowing supergroup hit the stage after Rush’s roof-raising performance, for a quick hip-hop freestyle and then a face-melting version of Robert Johnson’s oft-covered “Crossroads.”

Gary Clark Jr., Heart’s Ann and Nancy Wilson, Rush’s Geddy Lee, Public Enemy’s Chuck D, Run-D.M.C., John Fogerty, Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell, Tom Morello, Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins (still in their white Rush “2112” robes) al shared the stage for the seemingly immortal tune, with Alex Lifeson, Clark, Fogerty and Morello taking solos (Morello’s former Audioslave bandmate Chris Cornell looked on with a bit of awe), and Clark, Ann Wilson, Grohl, Cornell, Lee and Fogerty sharing lead vocals, with Chuck D dropping some rhymes during the song as well.

It was a supergroup, the likes of which had never been seen before, and probably won’t again. But it was a fitting end to an incredible night.
