Blake Shelton had a tremendous year last year, thanks among other things to his series of hit singles, his TV exposure on The Voice, his Christmas album, and his overall good-natured support for country music and country artists. So it’s little wonder he’s been nominated for Entertainer of the Year at this Sunday’s Academy of Country Music Awards.
But what does Blake think his chances are of winning this year? As he told Radio.com, he’s got a good idea of who might take it home this year.
“In the ACM Awards, Entertainer of the Year is voted on by fans, and that probably gives Taylor Swift a pretty good feeling,” he says with a laugh. “Because she’s just such an international superstar, and deservedly so.”
“When I saw my name in that category, I was excited to be considered. And I’m going to let that be the feather in my cap. Because I have a pretty good feeling Taylor will take that one home.”
Taylor Swift did win ACM Entertainer of the Year during the 2012 ceremony.
Fan voting for ACM Entertainer of the Year is open through April 7. Get the lowdown on each nominee’s recent accomplishments with Radio.com’s Inside the ACM Entertainer of the Year video profiles.
Blake Shelton is also cohosting the 2013 ACM Awards with Luke Bryan.
The 48th ACM Awards air Sunday, April 7 at 8pm ET on CBS.
