Controversial designer Hedi Slimane continues to make waves as the creative director for the Saint Laurent fashion house (aka, YSL), selecting a cast of rock stars to star in their new campaign.
Courtney Love, Marilyn Manson, Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon and Ariel Pink of Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti are all part of Saint Laurent’s current “music project,” where the designer allows the musicians to “style themselves in its seasonal and permanent collections to create an image of their own expression.”
The resulting images (shot by Slimane himself) are intimate, black and white portraits, with Love showing off a “Let It Bleed” tattoo on her right arm in a black evening dress, while Manson and Pink both sport leather biker jackets. Gordon wears a classic Saint Laurent Le Smoking tuxedo, as well as the designer’s personal scarf. (See the entire gallery at Dazed Digital.)
Slimane has an extensive history of working with rock stars, having dressed and created stage-wear for such artists as Daft Punk, Jack White and David Bowie while serving as the creative director for Christian Dior.
