The Game’s ‘Obama’ Tattoo Artist Draws The Line: ‘He’s Running Out Of Room’

Tattoo artist Carlos Macedo, the man behind the Barack Obama portrait inked across Game‘s abdomen, is busy working on the rapper’s next set of body portraits. While the presidential tattoo is still under construction, Macedo recently revealed the other figures Game has outlined on his flesh.

“I’m working on a portrait of Muhammad Ali and Malcolm X for Game,” Macedo told “He wanted the two to interact but he’s running out of room. He has to work with what he has.”

The Ali tattoo is partly inked on his inner arm and Malcolm X’s image is on the back of his arm waiting to be filled in.

“Those tattoos are in real painful areas,” Macedo explained. “I try not to put him in a bunch of pain in one session. With the Obama tattoo, he wanted it all finished at once.”

Like many other prominent rappers–Jay-Z, Ludacris, Young Jeezy–Game has been an outspoken proponent of the first African-American president. But on Wednesday (March 14), he one-upped his peers when an image of his Obama tattoo hit the net.

The Obama tattoo takes up prime, if shrinking, real estate on Game’s heavily inked flesh. It’s in the neighborhood of his cherished N.W.A. tattoo. The word “COMPTON,” a shout-out to Game’s hometown, is scrolled in bold letters beneath the president’s image.

Despite the three hours Macedo spent inscribing the Obama tattoo, he still has to arrange another session to fill in the colors of the American flag, which will fly behind the president’s portrait.

In the past, Macedo tatted “LA” on Game’s face and a portrait of Michael Jackson on the rapper’s inner arm.

“The Michael Jackson tattoo was kinda crazy,” he recalled. “I woke up to the news that he had been taken to the hospital. He wasn’t even pronounced dead when I got a call from Game asking if I could come to studio to do a tattoo.”

That day, Jackson joined a growing cast of portraits inked on Game’s body, which includes Lisa “Left EyeLopes, Eazy E and Tupac. Game plans to have every free area of his body inked by the summer, according to Macedo. He’s reserving room for several other portraits as well, including deceased California singer Nate Dogg, his mother and grandmother.

But, of course, all this is subject to change.

“I usually know what I’m going to do,” said Macedo. “But with Game, I just show up. He already has his ideas. Like with the Obama tattoo, I showed up and he was like, ‘Hey man, I wanna get Obama.’ So we did Obama.”
