‘Glee’ Uses ‘NSYNC & Backstreet Boys To Make Nice
On this week’s Glee, there’s a whole lot of feuding going on. Will isn’t too happy with Finn, who revealed last week that he’d kissed Emma. But to help the guys get past this rough patch the members of New Directions have decided to give out their first assignment, which ends in an epic boy band battle.
The two ladies probably won’t be pairing up in real life anytime soon, but in the Glee-niverse the two make beautiful music together. Blaine takes on Mariah’s “I Still Believe,” speeding up the hopeful ballad before Sue interrupts his longing to rap Nicki’s “Super Bass.” We can only hope Sue traded in one of her signature tracksuits for something that Minaj herself would approve of.
Though Ryder sounds a lot more like Sir Elton John then we would have expected on “The Bitch Is Back,” it’s Unique who shows that the diva is back with Madonna’s “Dress You Up,” owning this saxophone-fueled mash-up.
Back in New York, Santana is trying to figure out why it is that Brody has so much cash and a beeper because seriously, what year is it? In hopes to answer both those questions, Santana gives Rachel a little advice using the immortal words of Paula Abdul’s 1989 hit, “Cold Hearted.”
Santana’s suspicions of Brody being a cold hearted snake, may be right. He lays out the terms to how one can successfully break a few hearts with Marina And The Diamonds’ dancetastic “How To Be A Heartbreaker.” Rachel even joins in for a little backup singing, though we hope she takes Santana’s words of wisdom and stops playing the fool.
The members of New Directions sound a little more hopeful on their version of Tegan and Sara’s “Closer” off their latest album, Heartthrob. And a little naughtier as they harmoniz, “All you think of lately is getting underneath me. All I dream of lately is how to get you underneath me.” Wow.
The two express themselves in a mash-up that has Will taking on “Bye Bye Bye.” Unlike the boy band, there are a few strings attached, literally in Will’s case as he attempts to recreate the group’s famous marionette dance.
Finn on the other hand is going straight boy band pulling out BSB’s signature dance moves for “I Want It That Way.”
Will the two work things out? You’ll have to watch and see Thursday, March 14 at 9 p.m. EST.
