After debuting the comeback song “Entertainment” with a lyric video last month, French electro-rockers Phoenix have released a sweeping and dramatic official music video for the first single from their upcoming full-length, Bankrupt!
The epic clip is set in Korea, following a series of elaborate story lines involving a male Korean pop star, a children’s choir and flashbacks to fight scenes. The only sign of the band in the cinematic clip is a poster for an upcoming Phoenix show.
The grandiose video is directed by Patrick Daughters, who has previously produced videos for Depeche Mode (“Wrong”), Grizzly Bear (“Two Weeks”) and Feist (“1234”).
Bankrupt! will be Phoenix’s fifth studio full-length and the band’s first since its U.S. breakthrough record, Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix. It’s scheduled for release on April 23.
Phoenix is one of the headliners of this year’s Coachella music festival alongside Blur and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The band has also plotted a handful of West Coast concert dates around the two-weekend desert festival, making stops in Seattle, Portland, Las Vegas and more.
