After a tumultuous week including his “worst birthday” upon turning 19 and being booed by a British crowd for a late concert start, pop star Justin Bieber was rushed to a U.K. hospital after fainting during a performance at London’s O2 Arena.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bieber passed out in the backstage area towards the end of the show. He was treated on the scene and given oxygen while his manager, Scooter Braun, addressed the O2 audience.
“Justin’s got very light breath,” Braun explained. “The whole show he’s been complaining. He’s backstage with the EMTs and the doctor.”
After a 20-minute break, Bieber was able to return to the stage and finish the concert, much to the delight of his concerned fans.
“The fans were so supportive and cheering him on and chanting his name,” concert-goer Lauren Odell told E! News about the incident. “He came back on and finished with ‘Believe,’ ‘Boyfriend’ and ‘Baby,’ but struggled with energy.”
Upon completing the show, the pop singer was rushed to a nearby hospital for additional treatment. He was released after a check-up and brief stay.
During his trying time in London, Bieber has turned to Twitter to air his personal frustrations, lashing out at the media for spreading rumors and emphasizing his resolve to “continue to serve, to perform, to care, to love, to smile, to dance, to play, to sing…”
