The return of the robots is imminent, as Daft Punk has confirmed signing with Columbia Records.

The electronic duo verified the move by posting a new image to their official website depicting their recognizable helmets with the Columbia logo discreetly in the corner.

The image confirms earlier reports of the band’s label jump after ten years with Virgin Records. Daft Punk’s most recent release, the Tron: Legacy soundtrack, was a Disney release.

Rumors have been swirling about new Daft Punk music since last year, when famed producer (and Chic leader) Nile Rodgers revealed that he’d met with the duo at his New York apartment.

“We were just jamming at my house, but it’s gonna be proper and real,” Rodgers told Australia’s Faster Louder in February 2012. “We were having so much fun just in an informal setting that we decided to make it formal. And it’s very formal. It’s gonna be amazing.”

Last spring, disco producer Giorgio Moroder discussed recording spoken-word passages for Daft Punk, presumably for use on the forthcoming Columbia full-length.

The long-awaited and still-untitled album would be Daft Punk’s first proper studio album since 2005′s Human After All,outside of the Tron: Legacy soundtrack.
